Fall is here. October to be specific, which means I’m cooking and baking like a crazy person. Over the weekend I made a large batch of peach applesauce. I’ve only ever made plain applesauce so I thought I’d try something new. Homemade applesauce is sooo easy to make. And is so, so delicious.
7 Apples, peeled and cubed
2 cups Peaches, peeled and sliced
2 cups Water
1 tsp. All spice (or cinnamon or nutmeg, whichever you prefer)
First, go ahead and peel all of the apples and peaches and then slice and dice them into smaller pieces.
Place them in a large pot and then add the water. Cover and bring to boil. Once boiling, leave covered and reduce to a simmer for 25 minutes.
Add spices and either mash by hand or pour the mixture into a blender to mash. Store in the refrigerator in airtight containers and use within two weeks.
It was really delicious. I was a little skeptical of the apple and peach mixture at first but it was incredibly tasty.
Has anyone ever made applesauce mixed with a different fruit? I’m thinking I might try blueberry applesauce, but that also has me a little skeptical. Anyone?!
