I love these ornaments. The ones that are clear and you pop the top off and fill it with whatever you want. It’s a great way to capture a lasting memory.
Mine, of course, is marathon related. I know, I know, the marathon. I’m a broken record about it. But let me tell you, once you prove to yourself you can do something so extraordinary you live with pride forever. And for the love if I ever have kids some day you know I’ll be all “YEAHHH that’s right, that’s from when your Momma right here busted out 26.2 miles,” every time we decorate the tree.
I picked this one up for a whopping $0.24. That’s right, less than a quarter. It says 79 cents on the tag but it was on sale, 70% off. It was smaller than I was hoping for but the next largest size was in a four pack and I didn’t need that many.
When I got it home the first thing I did was cut off the string. I wanted to add a ribbon instead, to beef it up a little. I then guided one of the shoe laces, from the shoes I ran in, into the ornament. It kind of made its own spirally design that I liked.
I wanted to include a little piece of paper that said my finishing time but nothing would fit through the hole. I tried paper, ribbon, skinnier ribbon, and then I gave up. I actually love how plain and simple it is.
It came out perfect for me. I kind of now feel like I need to go make an ornament for everything I’ve ever done in my life. But I’m going to control myself.
