In efforts to have a quick cleaning cloth without using paper towels or buying harsh (and expensive) cleaning wipes I decided to make my own. I’ve started drinking lemon water daily and I could only clean my garbage disposal so much with the left over rinds. So I used them to make homemade cleaning wipes.
It was quite simple. I filled a quart sized, wide mouth mason jar with 1 cup water, 1 cup white vinegar. I shook it up and stuck it under the sink with the cleaning supplies. Each time I used a lemon I would peel the rind of and toss it in the jar. Once there were a decent amount of rinds I let it sit another 24 hours.
I took my rags and lined them all up, overlapping a few inches on each and then rolled them. You can also just shove your rags into the jar, whatever works for you.
Once they were rolled I slid them into the jar. Do this in the sink because the excess liquid will pour over.
Wipe any liquid from the jar, cover and use as needed. To use I would grab one, ring it out and then clean with it. Once you’ve used all the rags you can repeat the process again. However, as soon as I made up this jar I had already started adding the lemon rinds to another jar.
You can also add essential oils if you want your cleaner to not smell like vinegar and lemon, but all I care about is that the space is clean. The smell goes away very quickly. Good luck!
