I love this style of table. I’ve had similar styles in college apartments and even in the years immediately following college. They’re so functional with the two tiers and can be quite charming with a quick makeover.
This one I scored for a whopping $5 at our local thrift store. It was 10, but it was 50% off day. You guys seeing a theme with my thrifted projects? I try to hit up half off day, because, why not?! I have to be in the right frame of mind because it’s insane and chaotic, but if I’m in the mood to deal with it and wait in line forever then it’s totally worth it.
I picked up a $4 can of gold spray paint and used white paint we already had on hand. I gave the table a really good cleaning and then a light sanding.
It took three coats of semi-gloss white paint to get really good coverage. I was able to remove the legs and the little shelf to spray paint the gold. I taped off the edges of the little shelf so not to get any gold on those.
The legs took two coats of gold to get full coverage. I put everything back together for a finished, modern look to this mid-mod style table. I love the imperfections on the table and in the wood and the fact that the gold legs make it a bit classier.
I’m not sure where it will live yet. I’m thinking I’ll hold onto it and use it in the basement once that gets renovated. I think the bright white will brighten a dark basement.
Less than $10 for the whole thing!
